United States,, The responsibilities encompassed in the role of Medical Director – Inova Occupational Health Services is primarily an administrative role with clinical deliverables. As part of the leadership of Inova’s Occupational Health Programs, the Medical Director oversees OHS clinical delivery and patient care initiatives as well as System-wide program and policy development, implementation and monitoring. The Medical Director shall focus on evidence-based medical services, compliance, regulatory requirements, quality assurance and clinical best practices. As a member of the leadership team, the Medical Director shall encompass the qualities to lead, inspire, motivate and train colleagues and staff to achieve established outcomes. Although the role is primarily administrative, the medical director shall provide as needed occupational health clinical services for the Inova clients in one or more of the operating units (i. e. Alexandria OHS clinic, Prince William County Public Safety Clinic, OHS clinics). Clinical services may include, but are not limited to, physical exams and assessments, fitness-for-duty exams, independent medical exams, treatment of worker comp injuries or illnesses, post-exposure exams, required follow up, communication with primary care physicians, specialists and/or company representatives and accurate medical documentation. The Medical Director shall be board certified in occupational health and have knowledge of workers’ compensation, DOT, OSHA and other applicable legislative regulations. An additional board certification in a primary care specialty (internal medicine or family medicine) is preferred.

A minimum of 5 years post residency experience including professional leadership in the field of OHS is required
