SSR Pay Table: Martinez and Stockton CBOC – GS-06- $60,958-$79,241 Redding CBOC – GS-06- $49,979-$64,968 Mather – GS-06 – $54,466-$70,801 To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/30/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Individual Occupational Requirements Specialized Experience For positions at GS-4 and above: (a) Technical medical laboratory support work such as performing laboratory tests and examinations (chemical, microbiologic, hematologic and blood banking) and preparing reports of findings or (b) technical support work in a closely related field, e. g. , biological laboratory technician work, that required application of the methods and techniques for the position to be filled. (This experience must be well documented in your resume. ) In addition must also meet the below requirements: You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of human anatomy, aseptic technique and various phlebotomy equipment used in collection of blood. Knowledge of phlebotomy procedures to include the vacutainer system, the capillary puncture technique, and collection with butterfly needles. [“Major duties, include but are not limited to the following: Incumbent must use drawing techniques ensuring that proper tubes are used, and the correct amount of blood is drawn. The incumbent must verify the patient as the individual denoted on the request and must label all tubes with the patient’s name, social security number, date, and time to ensure proper identification following facility and VA guidelines. He/she will adhere to safety, infection control, and universal precautions always while drawing blood. This includes such things as replacing bed rails, removing tourniquets, wearing gloves, wearing facemasks, face shields, lab coats and disposable gowns as required by facility and laboratory policies. The incumbent will instruct patients in the proper collection of samples including sterile midstream urine collection, 24-hour urine collection, and collection of specimens for culture and sensitivity, ova and parasites, 2hr pp, occult bloods, etc. Incumbent will assist in teaching laboratory and medical center personnel theoretical and practical aspects of phlebotomy, specimen collection and processing, and specimen requirements for acceptance or rejection. He/she responds to and assists in emergency situations. Incumbent must know procedures for the care of patients who become sick, suffer cardiac arrest (basic life support certification required), or faint while having blood drawn.
