Saint Louis, Missouri, Additional Information About the Role The Marketing and Communications Team is seeking an experienced writer to tell impactful stories that help support BJC Heatlhcare’s mission and purpose.   Ideal candidates should have experience writing for various formats to include scripts, videos, podcasts, etc.   Previous experience working in journalism is preferred.   This role will have interactions with providers, patients and other team members.   Remote opportunity, Greater St. Louis area is preferred.     Overview BJC HealthCare is one of the largest nonprofit health care organizations in the United States, delivering services to residents primarily in the greater St. Louis, southern Illinois and southeast Missouri regions. In addition, BJC provides additional community benefits through commitments to research, emergency preparedness, regional health care safety net services, health literacy, community outreach and community health programs and regional economic development.   BJC’s patients have access to the latest advances in medical science and technology through a formal affiliation between Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital with the renowned Washington University School of Medicine, which consistently ranks among the top medical schools in the country.   Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose The Multi-Media Content Writer II is a versatile communicator who moves nimbly between channels to create and customize compelling news and human interest stories for a wide and diverse set of stakeholders.

An exceptional writer, and an equally talented listener, the Content Writer captures stories that highlight the people, programs and services that make BJC extraordinary, and knows how to adapt those stories across channels to captivate BJC’s many important audiences- patients, families, staff, physicians, lawmakers, the business community, media and the general public. A successful candidate will have strong command of web, digital, graphic, video and print formats, sound news judgement, tight copy-editing skills and thrives in a fast-paced team environment.   Responsibilities Collaborates with the Strategic Content Team to adapt materials for BJC’s multiple owned channels using best practices for digital, video, print and social. Develops materials that include, but are not limited to, web page content, feature articles, newsletter articles, infographics, marketing collateral, video scripts, op-eds and social posts. Assists with copy-editing and review across the Content team; ensures brand and messaging consistency across all platforms, adherence to AP style, attention to detail and aggressive pursuit of accuracy. Reports and writes stories that spotlight BJC’s key programs, services and initiatives, and the people who make them possible. Collaborates with the Marketing Strategy and Strategic Content teams to brainstorm storytelling opportunities that advance BJC’s business objectives, generate awareness and buzz, fulfill BJC’s commitment to the community and create passionate brand ambassadors.
