The Museum Exhibit Technician is a mission-control position responsible for
the day-to-day operations (construction, maintenance, and lighting of exhibits), helping the Sam Noble Museum achieving its long-term goals
as an institution. The Museum Exhibit Technician will assist in improving the existing displays, design-build new visitor experiences, and
assist in the installation and de-installation of rental exhibits. The position can also provide fabrication assistance to other museum
areas, including the Educations and Community Outreach and Collections and Research.
Essential Functions
- Performs a variety of duties involving the daily maintenance of the museum’s exhibits (lighting, repairs, etc.).
- Construction of new permanent and temporary exhibits, cases, and educational items
- Unpacks, installs, take-downs, and crates
rental exhibits. - Performs tasks using small hand tools and power equipment.
- Performs maintenance and repair of shop
equipment. - Assists with inventory and ordering of supplies and equipment.
- Contribute to a team environment by assisting
with other Museum projects and events as assigned - Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the
position.

computerized records
Certifications:

Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License in order to drive
University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days from hire date

Requirements:

Climbing ladders, working at heights. Shoveling snow from doorways and sidewalks. Lifting and
carrying loads up to 100 lbs. Prolonged standing and walking. Working with insulation such as fiberglass. Climbing stairs, including
carrying while climbing. Excessive stooping and bending. Manual dexterity. -
Painting and exposure to chemicals associated
with paint. Exposure to odors. Exposure to disagreeable tasks or conditions. Working in very tight areas/cramped enclosures. Exposure to
hazardous chemicals. Work may involve night, weekend, shift or overtime work. May be designated as an essential position during emergency
closures. May be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies.
Departmental
Preferences:
- B.S. or B.A. in Studio Art, Museum Studies, or similar.
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in an
exhibit fabrication shop or similar. - Formal training in mount making and exhibit techniques, including safe artifact handling.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar program.
- Familiarity with mechanical and electronic device production.
- Use of
a 3-axis CNC machine. - Familiar with laser cutting/etching of plastics.
