Pay is based upon relevant education and experience. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY: Primary responsibilities include hands on development, standardization, and management of all networking and telecommunication equipment including deployment, upgrades and day to day management. In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and LAN/WAN technologies capable of expertly managing Vail Health’s enterprise voice, video and data networks. This position will work to resolve issues and complete projects on Vail Health’s networking systems. Reports to the manager of technical operations. WHAT YOU WILL DO: 1. Monitors the health of all networking systems, to include routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access, phones and ancillary systems that enable or augment those devices. 2. Monitors capacity trends and works with management to ensure sufficient resources are always available 3. Monitors and tunes appropriate systems to ensure optimum level of performance 4.
Troubleshoots problems to locate root cause and appropriate fixes in expedient fashion 5. Provides tier 3 client support and technical issue resolution in support of other teams 6. Consults with third party vendors to obtain support, make recommendations, schedule work, and stay within budget 7. Ensures that network uptime is maximized and performance is optimal through exceptional design, engineering and monitoring. 8. Develops and executes rapid equipment deployment methodologies and maintains proper support warranties to minimize any unexpected outages. 9. Develops and executes methodologies for standardizing configurations across devices 10. Manages deployment of appropriate upgrades and patches on a timely basis 11. Maintains ongoing communications with support teams regarding application issue resolution and general infrastructure support 12.
Works with vendors for support with resolving issues and developing/maintaining platform strategy 13. Provides mentoring, guidance, and professional development support to others on staff 14. Provides back-up support for other network team members as needed 15. Participates in on-call rotation. 16. Produces and maintains system documentation 17. Perform other duties as assigned. WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Experience:Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems or equivalent experience preferred or 4 years of IT relevant experience. Two years of experience in healthcare information services preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of architecting, administering and managing a complex Cisco router/switch environment. Demonstrated knowledge of managing Cisco voice networks. Demonstrated knowledge of managing Cisco wireless networks. Demonstrated knowledge of WAN technologies such as MPLS, BGP and VPN. License(s):N/ACertification(s):Professional level certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, VMWare or ISC2 preferred. Computer / Typing:Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Pay is based upon relevant education and experience.
