Seattle, Washington, Overview Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington. Responsible for performing independently, tasks of a skilled nature, necessary for the operation, maintenance, repair and remodeling of Center buildings, grounds, and equipment. Must be proficient in architectural skills. Additionally, a working knowledge in at least two of the following areas: mechanical, plumbing, electrical, welding, HVAC, building automation, steam and hot water systems or refrigeration would be beneficial. Responsibilities Individual will be assigned primarily architectural and/or mechanical work orders and be expected to complete them independently; Including estimating the work both in terms of time and material, liaison with customers, executing the work and completing all the required paperwork, such as updating as-built drawings. Individual may also be assigned to work with and/or train apprentices. Type of work to be performed: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Builds, repairs, and install counters, cabinets, benches, keyboard trays, partitions, floors, doors, building framework, and trim.
Installs glass in windows, doors, and partitions. Replaces damaged ceiling tile, floor tile, and wall coverings. Builds cabinets and other wooden equipment in carpenter shop. Installs items such as window shades, venetian blinds, and curtain rods, wall fans, and door locks for tenants. Minor Painting and drywall work Qualifications OE I: A skilled professional who generally has over 5 years experience in carpentry, construction, or repair work or completion of at least two years of trade school and two years experience. OE II: A skilled professional who has 3-4 years of experience in carpentry, construction, or repair work of one or more of the systems listed above. Possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License Physical skills necessary to climb, bend, stoop, lift and perform tasks utilizing ladders and scaffolds, ect Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Dependable, on-time and proven good work habits Good communications skills Able to work a varied schedule including shift work High School diploma or equivalent This position is patient facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutch clinical facilities. As such, full COVID-19 vaccination is required as a condition of employment, without exception. Booster doses are strongly recommended but not required.

This position is represented by IUOE-302. OE I: The hourly contracted rate for this position is a flat rate of $44. 16, which is inclusive of a $7. 75 Central Pension Fund diversion. OE II : The hourly contracted rate for this position is a flat rate of $37.
67 which is inclusive of a $4. 89 Central Pension Fund diversion. Position is eligible for shift differentials, premiums for licenses, and other wage premiums as governed by the collective bargaining agreement.
