Miami, Florida, Description Job Summary Responsible for the care of critically ill patients transported by the LifeFlight Transport Program including patient care under the direction of a RN or Transport Physician which incorporates advanced assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and interventional skills. Oversees the maintenance and upkeep of the ambulance and its equipment including responding to requests for transport with all of LifeFlight’s vehicles, record keeping, data entry, and clerical support. Responsible for ongoing development of the LifeFlight program by attending and participating in meetings, in-services, committees, and completing projects. Accountable for driving the ambulances. Job Specific Duties Responsible for the care of critically ill patients transported under the direction of a RN or MD which incorporates assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, & interventional skills. Administers ACLS/PALS/NRP medications and/or other medications as required per transport and Medical Director of the program. Assists with inter-facility and intra-facility transfers of patients and attends to personal needs of patients/families with each transport. Functions as a professional representative of the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital LifeFlight Transport Program on every shift. Maintains and provides upkeep of MCHS ambulances, transport equipment, and supplies on every shift. Performs and assists with assessment and vital signs with each patient contact.
Promotes corporate compliance within the framework of the Code of Business and Ethical Conduct with each shift. Functions as the supporting team member for Critical Care rotor and fixed wing transports under the supervision of the RN. Responsible for responding to requests for transport with all of LifeFlight’s ground vehicles, record keeping, data entry, and clerical support as assigned. Responsible for ongoing development of the LifeFlight program by attending and participating in meetings, in-services, committees, and taking on and completing projects. Provides continuous supervision, observation of behavioral health patients, and adheres to non-violent crisis intervention strategies (CPI). Qualifications Minimum Job Requirements Paramedic Active Florida Paramedic license required Driver’s License Active and valid State of Florida driver’s license with an approved driving record pursuant to our policy and maintained throughout employment American Heart Association (AHA) BLS – must maintain active and in good standing throughout employment. American Heart Association (AHA) PALS – must maintain active and in good standing throughout employment. American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS- must maintain active and in good standing throughout employment. Neonatal Resuscitation Program American Academy of Pediatrics NRP – must maintain active and in good standing throughout employment. Dept of Trans Medical Florida DOT Course (AAAMC) within 6 months of hire Completion of EVOC course CPI – Crisis Prevention Institute within 6 months hire Trauma certification: PHTLS (Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support) or ITLS (International Trauma Life Support) within 60 days of hire OTHER FP-C, NPT-C, or CCP-C certification 3-5 years Paramedic experience 1-3 years Experience driving an emergency vehicle Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities High school education or equivalent preferred PALS/ACLS instructors preferred.
CCEMT-P preferred. NREMT-P preferred. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Training as paramedic, medical corps preferred. Available up to 2 hours prior to/after each scheduled shift. Able to take 12 hours on-call per week every week. Ability to work up to a 20 hour shift.
