Job Description:
Function of Position:
The Technical Assistant for Performing Arts reports to the Theater Coordinator and to the Visual and Performing Arts Department. The Technical Assistant for Performing Arts assists the Theater Coordinator to oversee all technical activities of the MCC theater and must be available to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise student aides working in the MCC theater
- Help to ensure the theater and performing arts area be prepared and safe for all performing arts activities
- Maintain all equipment and material used by the Visual and Performing Arts Department in the Theater
- Supervise the construction of the stage scenery
- Supervise the execution of all stage lighting plots
- Assist in building or accruing props
- Work with the general public when the theater is used by off-campus groups

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Successful experience with the technical aspects needed by the performing arts at the college level
- Commitment to the performing arts at MCC
- Excellent technical theatre knowledge and background
- Evidence of effective communication (interpersonal, speaking, and writing) skills
- Evidence of proficiency with technology
- Commitment to supporting an inclusive environment on campus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
Additional Information:
Hourly Rate: $22/hr
Part – time: 25 hrs per week
MCC is currently testing a Pilot Telecommuting Program that runs from October 25th, 2021 to June 30th, 2023. Under the pilot program, this position may be eligible for remote work up to 5 days per pay period pending departmental need and leadership approval. The pilot program may be extended or terminated at any time at the College’s discretion.
