Overview

Under the direction of the Director, F&B, the pastry cook is fully responsible for the daily preparation of the pastries, cakes and other desserts. The ideal candidate would be available Wednesday to Sunday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. You must have your own transportation as the Casino does not have public transit near.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and supervises the daily workload and activities in the pastry areas.
  • Confirms with the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef in pastry department matters.
  • Plans production schedule.
  • Adheres to all company and department policies and all food and beverage requisitions and procedures.
  • Maintains bake shop in a clean and sanitary manner in accordance with local and state health department codes.
  • Ensures the bake shop operates within established guidelines in respect of food and beverage labor costs.
  • Communicates with staff on all pertinent issues and needs.
  • Promotes positive customer relations; handles customer complaints.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.
  • Promotes positive public/employee relations at all times.
  • Lives the Brand

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • 2 to 5 years of food production experience preferred.
  • Previous pastry experience

SKILLS

  • Maintaining a well-groomed appearance
  • Following all uniform guidelines
  • Practicing all general safety & sanitation standards
  • Recycling products, where possible
  • Remaining calm in a hectic, fast-paced atmosphere
  • Demonstrating a high level of organization, attention-to-detail and a sense-of-urgency
  • Displaying a positive and outwardly friendly attitude toward guests and co-workers

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to move throughout the kitchen (standing, walking, kneeling, bending) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to frequently move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 25 pounds or more.
  • The Casino environment is hectic, fast-paced and often crowded and noisy.
  • Duties and responsibilities are typically performed in a professional office setting, but there may be times where you will need to be on the Casino Floor or pass through this area. On the Casino Floor, you may be exposed to casino-related environmental factors including, but not limited to, excessive noise.
