Dole VA Medical Center is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a Pharmacist, Automated Data Processing Coordinator (ADPAC) Facility Program Manager position in Wichita Kansas. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education. Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D. ) degree. Licensure. Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.
e. , Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia. Exception. Non-licensed pharmacists who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements may be given a temporary appointment at the entry level as a Graduate Pharmacist under the authority of 38 U. S. C. 7405(c)(2)(B). The appointing official may waive the requirement of licensure for a period not to exceed 2 years for a pharmacist that provides care under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. For grade levels above the GS-11, the candidate must be licensed. English Language Proficiency.
Pharmacists must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U. S. C. 7402(d), and 7407(d). May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). GRADE REQUIREMENTS: GS 13: To be qualified for this position at the GS 13 level, you must meet the following requirements: Experience. In addition to the GS-12 requirements, must have 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level AND You must demonstrate the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): Ability to communicate orally and in writing to persuade and influence clinical and management decisions. Expert understanding of regulatory and quality standards for their program area. Ability to solve problems, coordinate and organize responsibilities to maximize outcomes in their program area or area of clinical expertise. Expert knowledge of a specialized area of clinical pharmacy practice or specialty area of pharmacy.
Advanced skill in monitoring and assessing the outcome of drug therapies, including physical assessment and interpretation of laboratory and other diagnostic parameters. Physical Requirements: Physical movements involve completion of routine pharmacy functions which include but are not limited to significant computer work/typing, prescription order entry and processing, contact of patients (both face to face and via phone). Certain tasks are repetitive in nature and require multiple steps performed in succession for success. The incumbent should be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds without significant difficulty. Incumbent must be able to stand or sit in one place for considerable time during completion of complex tasks. Complexity of mental processes involved is extensive, demanding, and challenging. Additional responsibilities include assessment, design, integration, modification, maintenance and analysis of data, data management services, networking, and computerized medical record for Pharmacy Service to assist and support VISN 15 West Orbit and Robert J Dole VA Medical Center Pharmacy Service managerial decision making. Coordinates the development and implementation of all pertinent information applications to support clinical practice, administration, educational development, research initiatives and the computerized medical record in Pharmacy Service. The incumbent is an important liaison between VISN 15 West Orbit and local pharmacy services and Information Resource Management Service (IRMS). The incumbent will also be responsible for managing pharmacy clinical informatics applications and coordinating updates to the pharmacy electronic health record at the Robert J Dole VA Medical Center. VISN 15 West Orbit Program Management 1) Manage drug accountability and prescription cost information through drug file cost updates and corrections for VISN 15 West Orbit. 2) Complete drug file entry and updates when requested 3) Manage drug file in accordance with VISN 15 Formulary Management standard operating procedures and VA Directive 1108. 08 4) Update drug file and all medication management related menus and pharmacy order menus based on outcomes of VISN 15 Pharmacy & Therapeutics committees. 5) Complete PPS-N (national drug file) updates 6) Update drug file as needed based on daily CMOP updates to include but not limited to items removed from CMOP, items added to CMOP, dispense quantity messages, product rematches) 7) Respond to West Orbit staff drug file maintenance requests (new drug requests or edits) and inquiries concerning the drug file daily 8) Send information message weekly of all drug file changes to VISN 15 West orbit staff. 9) Update NCPDP values to resolve ePharmacy rejects as requested. 10) Queue drug pricing recalculations monthly 11) Manage West Orbit Pyxis ES Master Formulary 12) Provide Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) preparation updates 13) Update drug file to communicate drug shortage information through the (EHR) Robert J Dole VA Medical Center Program Management: 1) Edit pharmacy site parameters (IV, Outpatient, Inpatient, ePharmacy) when necessary 2) Manage Pyxis ES formulary and update new medications 3) Manage smart pump (e.
g. , Alaris) drug library updates (Additions/Changes/Deletions) 4) Manage IMO (inpatient medication orders) for clinic locations 5) Correct hospital locations and institution pointers 6) Test pharmacy specific patches 7) Update provider CMS exclusion checks as needed 8) Troubleshoot BCMA scanning issues 9) Update institutional DEA number 10) Update missing drug classes for allergy assessments 11) Pull data Fileman/SQL data as requested 12) Run and correct monthly high-cost item report 13) Perform necessary duties as the unit application coordinator (UAC) Administrative: 1) Develops and updates policies and procedures defining operational requirements of the section. 2) Conduct a regular WO drug file commission meeting to review and discussion WO drug file issues and concerns 3) Serves as the Pharmacy Representative on Medical Center and pertinent VISN committees (i. e. : EHRM, Formulary Management, etc. ) 4) Works with Pharmacy Administration to design and implement outcome monitors for performance. 5) Assists in preparation of JC, SOARS, OIG, ORO, and AAHRPP evaluations. 6) Participates in JPSR and RCA analysis and issues resolution when necessary 7) Designs and provides analysis of computer reports that assess service impacts on patient care, cost containment and performance. 8) Assures assigned administrative projects and reports are submitted in a timely fashion and reports are well arranged, easily understood, and are submitted in the proper format in final form. 9) Systematically progress reports to VISN and local leadership in a complete and timely manner.
