Suffern, New York, The Population Health Database Engineer is responsible for the review, analysis, and development of specifications for the preparation of specialized automated reports and dashboards for quality and population health applications. This position provides data expertise to the population health departments and various user departments while ensuring data integrity. In addition, the Database Engineer will contribute to the development of the enterprise data warehouse and supporting data marts. RESPONSIBILITIES
* Designs and develops database objects, stored procedures, views, tables, and triggers while ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance under the guidance of the Director, Data Management and Analytics.
* Creates automated extract transform and load (ETL) programs.
* Monitors the status of automated processes on a daily basis.
* Assesses reporting needs of customers through research, analysis and evaluation.
* Develops dashboards that highlight opportunities for quality improvement and cost reduction in support of the clinical transformation throughout the system.
* Presents data findings and recommendations to leadership and other key stakeholders.
* Identifies and validates the appropriate technological solution for various reporting needs.
* Prioritizes and manages multiple projects simultaneously, and follows through on issues in a timely manner.
* Provides information to the Director, Data Management and Analytics to organize and determine analyst’s schedules for report development.
* Designs and documents specifications for reporting and complies with enterprise change control policies and procedures.
* Coordinates report distribution with the Director, Data Management and Analytics.
* Tests reports for functionality and validity in coordination with end users to assure data quality prior to production.
* Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS: SQL skills required, including creating and modifying tables, stored procedures, and views, as well as troubleshooting and debugging (Microsoft SQL Server preferred). Experience with ETL tools (Microsoft SSIS) and health care datasets strongly preferred. EDUCATION: Associate’s degree is required.
