Description The Emory University Department of Biomedical Informatics is recruiting for a post doctorate in the area of computer vision, image processing, machine learning, and signal processing applied to conduct high quality research with a particular focus on neuropsychiatric and cardiovascular diseases. Working in a large team of 15 PhD students, several postdocs and research professors, this represents an opportunity to advance an academic career with strong mentorship and collaboration across schools and units. Candidates are required to have a strong background in at least one of the following areas: Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Informatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. The Department of Biomedical Informatics is a highly dynamic and multidisciplinary environment that has strengths in bioinformatics, global health informatics, imaging informatics, machine learning, mHealth informatics and signal processing. Experience with large volumes of physiological and temporal medical data and time series analytics are essential. Strong programming skills in Python and modern machine learning platforms are preferred; Experience with computing in cloud environments is a strong plus; some experience with high performance computing and database administration is desired but not required. A strong sense of responsibility to complete research in a timely manner is required. The position will be for one year in the first instance but with a strong likelihood of continuing for several years, with career progression.
