Description The Porter lab in the Department of Pediatrics (Leukemia & Lymphoma) studies mechanisms of leukemogenesis, with a focus on immune evasion. We are recruiting a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work on a grant funded, translational research project on a newly described immune checkpoint. Experience with flow cytometry and animal handling is preferred, but training may be provided for an individual with other outstanding qualifications, such as bioinformatics expertise. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to assist in manuscript and grant writing as part of their career development training. The Porter lab is one of several in the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, which is one of the largest pediatric cancer centers in the country. The research environment at Aflac is very rich, with broad expertise, several other leukemia focused labs, a large leukemia biorepository and bioinformatics support. The Porter lab also has access to sequencing data from the Aflac Precision Medicine Program, a major initiative to apply various “omics” to high-risk childhood tumors. Ideal candidates will have a PhD in cancer biology, immunology or related field and be able to work relatively independently.

Experience with flow cytometry and animal handling is preferred. Skills in bioinformatics are desirable as well. Candidates should be motivated, detail oriented and have strong interpersonal communication skills. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph. D. , M. D. , ScD. , D. V.

M. , DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues.
