Description The Hubert Department of Global Health at Emory Rollins School of Public Health in Atlanta is recruiting a postdoctoral associate to conduct research in Machine learning, Epidemiology, and Health Policy in Diabetes and Chronic Diseases. The candidate will conduct research in developing various microsimulation models for disease surveillance, disease progression, and its interplay with the individual- and community-level social determinants of health. The candidate will also lead projects using causal-AI methods to model heterogeneous treatment effects of diabetes medications and preventive strategies. The candidate will participate in the development of web- based interactive tools and EHR-imbedded tools for AI-supported decision-making in clinical practice. The candidate will be able to gain a tremendous amount of experience in working with large-scale data, including state-level electronic health records, national insurance administrative data (e. g. , Medicare, Medicaid, private), large randomized clinical trial data, and contextual-level exposome data. The postdoctoral associate will work under the supervision of Dr.
Hui Shao and Dr. Edward Gregg. In addition, there are multiple outstanding faculties, postdoctoral associates, and research staff collaborators in the department and across the school. The candidate will also have the opportunity to work with collaborative international collaborators in global health. Dr. Shao’s team is looking for a highly motivated researcher with hard-core training in quantitative skills. Applicants with programming skills to develop web-based interactive apps and basic C++ coding are preferred. * Ph.
D. in economics, biostatistics, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph. D. , M. D. , ScD. , D. V.
M. , DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues.
