A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available in the Adeyemi Lab in the Basic Sciences Division at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center. The Adeyemi lab is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms of genome maintenance – how the DNA repair machinery is deployed in response to different types of cellular insults, how these processes are dysregulated during genetic diseases, infections, aging and cancer, and how such knowledge can potentially be exploited toward novel therapies. We employ a variety of cutting-edge approaches from CRISPR and barcoded ORF library screens, to various biochemical and molecular biology techniques. We are seeking an outstanding and highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to perform cutting edge research in the field of DNA repair and cancer genetics. Responsibilities There are several exciting projects that have already been set up in the lab, ranging from characterizing the role of various newly identified genes during replication stress, studying the role of RNA polymerase and RNA metabolism during DNA repair, to making use of genetic screening approaches to determine mechanisms of resistance to various chemotherapeutic drugs and to identify new potentially targetable synthetic lethal interactions in breast and ovarian cancers. The successful candidate will be expected to drive one or more of these projects. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A PhD in Biochemistry, Genetics, Cancer Biology, Virology or a closely related field.
A track record of publications and demonstrated independence. Excellent verbal and written communication as well as excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Experience with cell culture, flow cytometry, basic molecular biology (PCR, cloning, western blotting, immunofluorescence assays). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with functional genomic screens, protein purification and enzymology, DNA repair techniques, Python or R programming. Expertise / background in the field of DNA repair. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine requirement, with exceptions only for approved medical or religious accommodations. The annual base salary range for this position is from $65,484.
00 to $100,000. 00 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
