Organization: VMAC Department Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY As a Principal Population/Public Health Manager, this role works for the Vanderbilt Memory and Alzheimer’s Center (VMAC) on projects focused on advancing scientific knowledge to reduce the public health burden of mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, and related disorders. Current active studies include multiple large NIA-funded projects. 1. Vanderbilt Memory and Aging Project (VMAP) is a 5-year, $4.
06M grant from the National Institute on Aging to support the longitudinal study investigating vascular health and brain aging. VMAP provides a unique resource to investigate the emerging intersection of vascular disease and Alzheimer’s disease on cognitive health. 2. Vanderbilt Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (P20) is a 3-year, $3. 8M grant from the National Institute on Aging to establish an NIA-funded exploratory Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The P20 Center will support planning and infrastructure development for an eventual NIA-funded P30 ADRC designation for Vanderbilt. The transition to the P30 ADRC is slated for late 2023. The Principal Population/Public Health Manager is responsible for overall leadership and management of the projects, including leading study teams’ coordination and communication, leading IRB compliance, grant and progress report preparations, and other research-related and administrative duties as assigned. . KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides strategic leadership and oversight among multiple programs.
Oversees the day-to-day operations of program staff, including onboarding, training, and continued performance evaluation and feedback. Serve as resource to Center colleagues and collaborators for study needs, including IRB, protocols, and research best practices. Develop and edit existing study-related protocols and SOPs Oversee multiple weekly, bi-monthly and monthly staff meetings (operations meetings, case conference, data management and participant chart finalization) Perform, interpret, and evaluate research methods and data collection to ensure accurate and valid data. Provide oversight of participant recruitment and retention measures in collaboration with Center colleagues. Appropriately delegate tasks and hold team members accountable for key study metrics. Organize, prepare, and present information for study meetings held with Center leadership. Ensure existing study operations are scalable to account for predicted program growth. Oversees the execution of deliverables across multiple domains in programmatic, financial, regulatory, and related activities. Provides professional and/or technical leadership in the execution of day-to-day program activities. Communicates within and across departments, partner institutions, funding organizations, and stakeholders to maximize information sharing and to achieve objectives (including VUIIS and the CRC) Demonstrates comprehensive scientific knowledge to support project activities which may include data management, analysis, and writing of research publications and grant proposals.

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of related experience. Additional Information: This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary is dependent on experience and education. Mentoring & Coaching (Advanced) – The essence of training and mentoring on the job is transfer of knowledge.
Whereas training can be considered more formal and scheduled, mentoring is often in the form of guidance and “hands-on” experiences. The reporting relationship is unimportant since the purpose is to pass on information and experiences. These discussions normally center around a person’s goal of learning job procedures, content, standards, analysis and problem-solving. Works with basic program management tools, either paper-based or computer software systems.
