This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills,
knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined
based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay
range is not a promise of a particular wage.

Job Description Summary

The Program Advisor is a student facing,
student serving role, which provides detailed and thorough advisement to undergraduate students in the Argyros School of Business and
Economics (ASBE). The Program Advisor is the main point of contact for ASBE students to ensure completion of their undergraduate degree. The
Program Advisor supports students within ASBE through consistent, personalized and timely interactions throughout the students’ academic
career, recommend interactions with our Career and Graduate Teams to offer pathways to future
opportunities.

Responsibilities

Academic Advising for Argyros School Undergraduate
Students

  • Provide 20 hours per week of student advising and more, as needed, in registration and start semester
    periods.
  • Evaluate student academic programs of study, and provide advising on student progress, future course schedules, academic
    regulations and anticipated graduation dates.
  • Discuss potentially relevant courses, clusters, minors and second majors with majors
    in support of current academic and career goals.
  • Deliver academic planning and other relevant workshops for majors, minors and major
    changes.
  • Respond to supervisor and colleague requests to update academic planning workshops and advising.

Personal
Development for Argyros School Undergraduate Students

  • Deliver personal development advising and workshops for majors and
    minors.
  • Collaborate with supervisor and colleagues to develop and review program of personal development
    activities.

Leadership Development for Argyros School Undergraduate Students

  • Deliver leadership development
    advising and workshops for majors and minors.
  • Recommend membership in student, professional, service or other organizations as
    relating to student’s personal and career interests.
  • Develop student insight with respect to skills required to obtain internships
    and advise as to academic, personal and leadership other opportunities in support of skill development.
  • Collaborate with supervisor
    and colleagues to develop and review program of leadership development activities.

Support Undergraduate Advising
Operations at the Argyros School

  • Assist in monitoring update of collateral program materials for advising group, for
    students and for other key stakeholders including the advising website.
  • Attend departmental and general staff meetings as well as
    meetings with other advising organizations at Chapman.
  • Provide input into advising office performance and offer methods to improve
    service delivery.
  • Collaborate with supervisor and colleagues to respond to surveys and other data on advising group
    performance.
  • Contribute in written form to the development of a student academic and career planning manual.
  • Support and
    contribute to large events including, but not limited to, student recruiting and orientation.

Required
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination in education and experience.
  • Strong commitment to
    customer service.
  • Strong commitment to customer teamwork.
  • Demonstrated effective oral communication skills.
  • Proven
    writing and editing skills to prepare and proofread clear, concise and grammatically correct business correspondence, reports and
    publications.
  • Technical skills to learn and use enterprise and departmental systems and tools.
  • Microsoft Office Suite
    applications knowledge, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with diverse groups of individuals at all
    organizational levels, inside and outside the University.
  • Understanding of course scheduling, higher education academic program
    requirements and registration processes.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy and sensitivity to listen and address student needs
    from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to interpret and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy and to
    maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain accurate office files.
  • Ability to demonstrate
    initiative without constant supervision.
  • Ability to carry out duties in a timely manner and to prioritize duties when faced with
    interruptions, distractions, and fluctuating workload.

Desired Qualifications

  • Major in minor in Business
    Administration or related field.
  • Experience in delivering timely and responsive services to undergraduate
    students.
  • Creativity to innovate processes when necessary and under approval by supervisor.
  • Experience using PeopleSoft or a
    similar advising management software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of academic, personal and leadership development principles and
    theories, with proven ability to apply them in advising students.
  • Basic understanding of career counseling.
  • Knowledge of
    Argyros School programs, services and processes.
