Duties & Responsibilities
Estimate requirements for Manpower, duration, tools, and consumables
Assist manager planning to prepare a construction schedule
Identify bottlenecks and troubleshoot technical issues arising during
construction in consultation with the Technical/Project manager.
Capture changes during the construction stage and report back to the design department.
Review the drawings and ensure correctness before the start of fabrication.
Manage the foreman and people in the project to make sure targets are met.
Report back daily progress to the project manager.
Plan daily production activities, consumable requirements, and manpower
Plan and inform the logistics department/coordinators on material movement, crane requirements, etc. well in advance.
Report any shortages in drawing, material, or labor consumables affecting the production progress
Asses the overtime requirement and request accordingly
Conduct daily Toolbox talks with the team.
Coordinate with other departments to avoid any clash of activities.
Plan for material in advance and follow up with coordinators for the material.
Training of people in reading drawings, marking, new fabrication
techniques, and shipbuilding standards and thereby developing local skills.
Ensure overall production quality is maintained as per IACS standard
Implement innovative methods and techniques in production
Team building
Identify the strengths and weaknesses of the team and take necessary corrective actions to improve.
Ensure all safety practices are followed during project execution
Encourage the team members and support them to achieve the targets
Responsible for managing the project’s local store.
Ensure housekeeping is followed at the worksite
Coordinate launching activities
Involve in sea trials
Requirements
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Hands-on experience – 8-10 years in executing shipbuilding projects
for both steel and aluminum on the shop floor.
Knowledge and proficiency in MS Office products
Knowledge of rules and regulations and practices in the shipbuilding industry
Knowledge of ship construction in both steel and aluminum
Communication Skills in English both reading and writing
Ability to lead a team independently from the start to completion of the project
