Nashville, Tennessee, Organization: Neurological Surgery Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY Performs project management support and analysis under occasional guidance. This position will be housed in the Vanderbilt Sports Concussion Center within the Department of Neurological Surgery. The mission of the Vanderbilt Sports Concussion Center (VSCC) is to provide quality clinical care for athletes with sports related concussion by utilizing an evidence-based medicine approach, conducting academic and clinical research, and educating athletes, parents, coaches, and healthcare providers on the recognition and management of sport-related concussion. VSCC Research Coordinator are tasked with organizing, contributing, and leading projects under the research arm of the VSCC, known as the Vanderbilt Sports Concussion Research Program (V-SCoRe). The main research project associated with this position is related to measuring the biomechanics of head impacts in collegiate football. The person hired for this position will be involved in all aspects of the research study. In this study, participating athletes will wear an instrumented mouthguard during all of their practices and games. Data about impacts to the head, as measured by the instrumented mouthguard, will be passively collected and downloaded to a secure server for analysis. There will also be opportunities to get involved in a variety of other research projects. This position will likely involve some weekend hours and work-related travel.
. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Specific responsibilities will include the following: Distribution and care of instrumented mouthguards. Downloading data and quality control. Completing participant payments. Setting up and organizing meetings related to research Participating in the onboarding and training of junior lab members Contributing and leading data collection of athletes with sports concussion Outreach to local high schools and colleges regarding athletes with concussions Perform literature reviews Assist in the drafting of IRB applications, study protocols and consent forms Communicate regularly with the IRB for all active studies Ensure record keeping compliance (consents, data, IRB letters etc. ) Submitting articles to journals More general responsibilities may include:
