Morristown/NJ/USA, Overview Atlantic Health System is seeking a full-time Radiology Service Engineer II for the Clinical Engineering Department at Morristown Medical Center to work 8am-4pm, including on-call. Responsibilities Essential Function/Responsibilities: Fully experienced with an extensive skill set or knowledge, works with minimal supervision, capable of serving as a trainer to BMET 3, BMET 2, BMET 1 and interns on diagnostic imaging equipment. Working knowledge of general X-ray equipment and specific training in maintenance and repair of portable X-ray units and C-arms. Recognized as field modality expert. Highly competent in area of specialty, spending 70% of time or more in repairing, inspecting, installing, troubleshooting, and calibrating diagnostic imaging equipment. Serves as a front-line responder for escalated service events. Possesses understanding of medical PCs, peripherals, medical network hardware and clinical network applications associated with diagnostic imaging equipment. Significant working knowledge of physiology, anatomy and medical terminology with emphasis in clinical application and troubleshooting. Possesses the ability to follow manufacturer’s procedures for preventive maintenance inspection, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections, and operation verification procedures on medical equipment including but not limited their specialized medical equipment (diagnostic imaging equipment). Repair, install, and calibrate complex and intricate medical equipment.
Exhibits understanding and can demonstrate use of all required hand tools and test equipment for diagnostic imaging equipment. Inform supervisors of the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual medical equipment situations, and any customer concerns. Work with, direct, and document the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and outside service technicians to ensure proper service delivery and vendor documentation. Develop and maintain imaging equipment expertise through ongoing training and education. Assist with special projects as assigned. Exhibits a detailed understanding and can fully communicate the use of devices supported. Can provide advanced support of non-high risk and high-risk medical equipment for direct patient care. Possesses understanding of the operations and environment that they support (hospital, clinic, offsite locations, etc. ). Possesses experience in their assigned clinical environment.
Prepare to assume 24-hour on-call repair responsibilities. Must maintain current understanding of Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP), The Joint Commission, NFPA and other regulatory agencies standards. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database to include the inventory, preventive maintenance schedules, nomenclature, and service history. Ensures service completed and documentation submitted is accurate, complete, and timely. Can review BMET 3, BMET 2, and BMET 1 documentation for the same. Resolve complex customer service issues and complaints. Interacts with customers in a timely manner. Demonstrates the ability to elicit information from customers as needed for troubleshooting and general support. Develop and maintain positive relationships with department representatives and managers. Possesses knowledge of diagnostic imaging equipment.
Possesses basic knowledge of project management terms and methods. Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Science or Technology (BMET/EET). Associate’s degree or military trained (BMET) Biomedical Equipment Technician with extensive, demonstrable and documented experience in the field will be considered. Minimum Experience: Three years X-ray experience (preferably in a hospital) desirable. Possesses formal manufacturer’s training on diagnostic imaging equipment preferred. License/Certification: CRES (Certified Radiological Equipment Specialist) preferred.
