Santa Fe, New Mexico, Description POSITION SUMMARY: Directs and provides professional nursing care for an assigned group of patients across the age continuum, while complying with the New Mexico Nurse Practice Act. The registered nurse in the Pre-Anesthesia Surgical Screening office is part of a team that works to complete a comprehensive assessment of the surgical patient’s medical, surgical and anesthesia history, ensuring all medical issues have been addressed and/or optimized prior to scheduled surgery. Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Graduate of an NLN accredited school of professional nursing CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license. BLS Certification required or within 2 weeks of hire date. . SKILLS: Ability to relate and work effectively with others Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own professional advancement Is aware of professional nursing standards and performs in accordance with them EXPERIENCE: Previous pre-anesthesia assessment or surgical intake experience preferred. NATURE OF SUPERVISION: -Responsible to: CSV Chief Nursing Officer, PASS Medical Director and Operations Manager of Anesthesia/PASS ENVIRONMENT: -Office PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sitting for long periods. Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties are required. This includes basic computer skills, familiarity with computer charting, typing, and telephone communication skills.
