Orlando, Florida, Research Fellow Description This fellowship is a research-centric position that provides opportunities for clinical experience in Nemours Children’s Hospital Department of Orthopaedics in Florida. Clinical exposure includes shadowing in clinics and in the operating room. Research Fellow will be integrally involved in facilitating and improving research studies. There will be regularly scheduled meetings with the mentors within the Department to review the study progress and advise. The goal is to become a primary research investigator, promote research within the Department through supporting scientific accomplishments including protocols, grants, and manuscripts. There will be opportunities to build your academic portfolio with peer-reviewed papers. Research fellow is expected to submit research to national and international meetings. The Department will provide full support in attending and presenting our research. Research fellow should keep current of recent scientific, engineering, and technical advances, then translate these into supporting research. Must be able to manage research workflow in varying stages.

Research Fellow will provide study reports individually and at the departmental level. Responsibilities Directly collaborate with the Orthopaedic faculties to establish research protocols, manuscripts, and grant proposals. Lead and co-author scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals. The Department’s goal this year is to produce 18 publications. Participate in national and international research conferences to present research studies. Report research progress in state-wide monthly meetings. Oversee clinical research activities. Contribute to research design. Maintain scientific awareness and intellectual agility with data, methods, and analytic techniques. Participate in establishing research workflow, priority setting, critiquing work.

Establish quality standards in scientific writing. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirement Medical students who plan to take a year off immediately after medical school. Candidates holding a MD, DO, MBBS, PhD, or an equivalent degree. Deliver excellent analytic, critical thinking, and quantitative skills. Take initiative, demonstrated ability to quickly recognize problems and identify root causes in studies. Proactively problem-solve. Ability to initiate and complete tasks under tight deadlines and changing priorities both independently and in a team environment. Flexibility with hours and workload. Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally, fluency in English.
