Wilmington, Delaware, Nemours is seeking a Research Safety and Facilities Operation Coordinator to join our Nemours Children’s Health team in Wilmington, DE. The Research Safety and Facilities Operation Coordinator is responsible for safety activities and maintenance oversight at all Delaware Valley research locations. Incumbent will be conducting safety rounds, providing input to labs on regulations/requirements, performing light maintenance work, arranging/setting up PC’s, and communicating federal, state and site regulations pertinent to operations. The position maintains equipment and chemical inventory lists and biohazardous tracking and disposal activities and records. Working in conjunction with the Research Regulatory Affairs manager, the Research Safety and Facilities Operations Coordinator assists the research laboratory staff in obtaining/guiding the required equipment or supplies to maintain safe operations. This position works with all contractors, vendors or service providers to complete necessary facility and lab related modifications, repairs, and deliveries. Coordinator will be responsible for sending communications regarding emergency notifications, downtime, facility maintenance, and other communications as needed. Research safety and facility operations coordinator is required to respond to outages and other emergent items as needed on evenings and weekends as needed in coordination with research administration. Safety Coordinator for Nemours Biomedical Research, Delaware Valley Serves as the EHS coordinator. Conducts periodic inspections of Labs and work areas for safety and problematic issues.
Reports issues through Institutional Safety monitoring systems. Monitors and facilitates chemical inventories with each lab and schedules and ensures proper disposal with chemical disposal vendor. Works with Research Administration and the Research Regulatory Affairs Manager to develop, edit and provide guidance on safety protocols and standard operating procedures for research dept. Serves on the Hospital Environment of Care Committee as the Research member. Works with Research administration and regulatory affairs on updating and developing new policies in the Nemours Research Biosafety manual and Nemours Research Safety Manual. Serves as the primary contact for lab equipment repairs and installation of all lab equipment in the RC I, Experimental Station and Administration Research Building labs and work areas. Determines types of service and negotiates levels of service with vendors of research lab equipment. Performs minor IT computer changes and set-up with Nemours IT. DuPont Experimental Station Operations Serves as the Nemours Access control manager for E400 and Life Science Center for DuPont. Orders supplies and materials to support lab operations and safety requirements.
Direct contact for Site and Nemours Communicates with DuPont Site management and Nemours research teams to discuss facility issues with E400, requests DuPont Work Orders and monitors service. Direct contact for DuPont site security. Conducts required associate safety drills in connection with Nemours Security and Experimental Station Security. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree Training in Lab Safety and Environmental Safety Procedures and Regulations A minimum of three years relevant experience required Certifications such as Lab Safety, Environment of Care Safety, OSHA, or Radiation Safety preferred
