The Rigger is accountable for the lifting and moving of heavy machinery underground and on the plant surface as well as perform repairs and maintenance on rigging equipment in accordance with operational and safety procedures and processes. A core accountability of the role is to maintain the highest possible safety standards in area of operation and influence

Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12/N3 or equivalent
Trade Certificate
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a rigger, preferably within a mechanized mining environment
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure health and safety of self and team members by applying relevant standards and procedures in all planning and execution of maintenance activities
Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, and Company standards
Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation, health, safety, environmental, security policies, and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion
Transporting of heavy and bulky loads including slinging work
Assisting with the recovery of broken down or redundant mining machinery and equipment from the mine face
Managing spares requirements of rigging equipment to ensure availability
Promoting and developing team effectiveness within the Mining Engineering section
Maintaining registers and records of all equipment as required by the Mine’s applicable Codes of Practice and Standards
