MCALLEN, Texas, Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: An RN, who, with minimal supervision, concurrently reviews medical records and available databases, assists and coordinates data collection processes, exhibits proficiency in data management, demonstrates knowledge of age specific processes of care, coordinates referrals when physician or departmental review is indicated and assists with regulatory compliance. Performs concurrent review and chart studies while maintaining databases for trauma, chest pain, and stroke patients, and participates in the quality improvement program to evaluate care for these patient populations. Provides support to leadership and the System Stroke Program Coordinator for performance improvement activities, and assist with compliance activities for all regulatory agencies for STHS Stroke Program. Assist with educating the staff and the community regarding initiatives and care of the stroke patients. Assist in ensuring that requirements for the Stroke Designation are maintained for the STHS facilities and assists in the development and completion of required improvement actions. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups. This position summary contains the most relevant duties and responsibilities and does not exclude other assignments not mentioned. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Minimum of 2years nursing experience preferably in critical care/emergency nursing. 2.
Must acquire and maintain 8 CEUs related to Stroke annually 3. Demonstrates competency and professionalism in verbal and written communication. 4. Basic computer literacy with strong verbal and writing skills 5. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical and stroke terminology. 6. Must have experience in an acute-care hospital environment. 7. Hours are flexible but must be able to work in a high pressure environment subject to multiple and changing priorities and demands. 8.
Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer. EDUCATION / LICENSURE: 1. Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Texas, or part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the permanent license. BSN preferred. 2. Must possess an Associate Degree, Baccalaureate Degree or Diploma from a School of Nursing or University. 3. RN will have BLS upon hire (and maintain through employment. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider’s Program.
