Our client is a financial technology company seeking to bridge the gaps identified in Africa’s payment ecosystem with a presence in 9 African countries and serving many merchants across different verticals and aggressively expanding our footprint.

The company is seeking to hire a renowned Sales/Business Development Officer who will play a critical role in driving sales growth, expanding the company’s customer base, and establishing strategic partnerships. The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of the fin-tech landscape, strong networking skills, and the ability to navigate complex payment solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and target potential clients, including merchants, financial institutions, and other relevant businesses to expand the customer base.
Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive intelligence in the payments industry.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the fintech landscape, including emerging technologies, regulatory requirements, and industry trends, to identify new business opportunities.
Build and nurture strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including payment processors, banks, payment networks, and regulatory bodies.
Initiate and conduct meetings, presentations, and product demonstrations to showcase the company’s payment solutions, addressing client needs and concerns.
Collaborate with internal teams, such as product management and marketing, to align offerings with customer requirements and market demands.
Develop and execute sales strategies and plans to achieve revenue targets and increase the Company’s market share.
Collaborate with the marketing department, and the commercial team to develop effective sales strategies and pricing models.
Continuously evaluate and refine sales processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices to optimize sales performance.
Lead negotiations with clients, partners, and other stakeholders to establish mutually beneficial agreements, including pricing, contracts, and service level agreements.
Collaborate with legal to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and contractual obligations.
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding and implementation of payment solutions for clients, addressing any post-sales issues or concerns.
Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify market opportunities and recommend product enhancements or new offerings.
Gather and analyze sales data, pipeline metrics, conversion rates, and revenue projections to track sales performance.
Prepare regular sales reports and presentations to communicate sales progress, market insights, and strategic recommendations.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and customer support, to ensure the successful implementation of sales strategies and seamless customer experiences.
Provide feedback and recommendations to management based on market insights, customer feedback, and competitor analysis.
Act as a liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment of goals.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field
Proven experience in sales and business development, preferably in the payments or fintech industry.
In-depth knowledge of the payments ecosystem, including payment processing, e-commerce, mobile payments, and the regulatory landscape.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex payment solutions to diverse audiences.
Strong networking and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence key stakeholders.
The results-driven mindset with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Analytical mindset with the ability to gather and interpret market data and make data-driven decisions.
Proficiency in using CRM software and other sales tools.
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
