PADR Instructor
Position Description
Performs Academic Advising,
educational, professional, or other advanced Academic Advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Responsibilities
may include assisting in the analysis of special and/or complex problems. May supervise Academic Advisors or other employees. Performance is
based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained. Work is performed under standard supervision in accordance
with established policies and procedures.
Major/Essential Functions
- Advise students regarding educational issues as
they pertain to their success and retention at Texas Tech University. - Document and maintain accurate records and interactions with
students in the PADR/PSA program. - Stay informed of campus resources/programs and help connect students with relevant support
resources in a timely manner - Actively pursue professional development opportunities in advising strategies, and leadership and
collaborate in the development of Campus/Conference presentations regarding the success and impact of the PADR/PSA
program. - Collaborate with PADR/PSA colleagues in maintaining and/or creating relevant advising and impactful program
policies. - Effectively communicate changes or updates to said policy to students, instructors, and advising
community. - Provide timely phone support, email support and maintain appointment availability
- Advise and create connections
with students as they recognize, understand, and overcome academic issues impeding their success at Texas Tech University. - Attend
trainings and workshops relevant to documentation and resource support platforms. Use systems to document student interactions in a timely
manner. - Attend and support departmental and university initiatives related to student engagement and support as
directed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, plus one year relevant experience.
Preferred
Qualifications
- Masters degree completed or in progress.
- Advanced communication skills, critical thinking and decision
making, inductive and deductive reasoning. - Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite and accurate data entry and
multi-tasking. - Higher education experience in student development, student retention or student affairs.
- Thorough
understanding of higher education policies and processes. - Demonstrated ability to engage at risk student populations.
