Position Highlights

The Indigenous Resilience Center in Arizona Institute for Resilience at the University of Arizona is in search of a Senior Assistant to the Director, Indigenous Resilience Center (Admin Support Assistant III). The Senior Assistant to Indigenous Resilience Center Director will provide general administrative support and assistance in a dynamic and critical role within the Center. This position will support the Director through Federal, Tribal, private, and foundation funding opportunities. This role will provide general administrative functions, including, communication on behalf of the Director and serving as primary contact for inquiries, scheduling meetings and travel, preparing documents.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Performs
    a variety of administrative duties on behalf of the IRes Director,
    including document preparation, scheduling, meeting and event
    coordination, travel arrangements, website updates, record keeping, data
    entry, and budget reconciliation.
  • Assist
    the IRes Director in coordinating grant proposals, annual reports,
    faculty searches, scheduling, budget monitoring and reconciliation.
    Provide guidance and assistance to students, faculty, researchers, and
    other staff on policies, practices, and procedures related to
    Indigenous/Tribal communities.
  • With
    the IRes Director, monitors, reviews, and approves standard
    expenditures to ensure the activities of the Center are conducted within
    established federal, state, private, and foundation budgets.
  • Provide
    guidance and assistance to students, faculty, researchers, and other
    staff on policies, practices, and procedures related to
    Indigenous/Tribal communities.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Familiarity with Indigenous languages, cultures, TEK, and Tribal Sovereignty.
  • Ability to independently exchange information with other departments or external contacts to perform role.
  • Good writing skills, detailed-oriented, can meet timelines and prioritize and handle several things at the same time.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Knowledge and background while working with Indigenous/Tribal communities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with project management and event coordination.
  • BA in any related field.
