Boeing Brazil Engineering is seeking for a Senior Engineering Data Scientist with full stack web developer experience, reporting directly to the Data Analytics Manager of Boeing Brazil in São José dos Campos.

The candidate will work together with cross-functional teams to determine, define, and deploy data analytics to meet business objectives, investigate and apply best fit methods and algorithms, validate results, perform necessary data preparation and enhancements to models; and develop applications to deploy the data.

The candidate must have full stack web developer experience and knowledge in fields such as machine learning techniques, text analytics, advanced statistics and artificial intelligence. The candidate will need experience developing end-to-end analytics solutions. These skills will be used to solve challenging problems centered on engineering production data and a predictive value stream.

Position Responsibilities:

This position will require candidates to design, program, test, implement, document and maintain computing applications, software and computing application systems. Analyze information to determine computing applications and architecture specifications, parameters for software compatibility, application security needs and other programmer or application architecture requirements. Design application architecture, integrates application software, database and delivery subsystems for specific applications. Identify and resolve application architecture problems.

The position also requires the candidate to:

  • Modify and analyze complex data sets using analytics techniques such as machine learning, statistical analysis, mathematical optimization and simulation. Identify modeling attributes and parameters. Apply algorithms to create descriptive, predictive or prescriptive models to achieve analysis and project deliverables
  • Investigate data characteristics, complexity, quality, and meaning. Through visualizations and summarizations, defines performance, identifies trends, outliers, and drivers
  • Prepare data for analysis, e.g. cleansing, conditioning, transforming, handling missing fields, identifying new feature variables and handling multi-variate data
  • Develop analysis requirements given standard to complex business objectives; determining decision support needs, data and performance requirements, and fit-for-purpose solutions

This position is hybrid/telecommuting. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Must have existing rights to work in Brazil
  • Must have a Bachelor degree in Engineering
  • Must be registered or eligible to register with the Engineering and Agronomy Regional Council (Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia – CREA)
  • Proficient in both verbal and written communications skills in the English Language
  • In depth experience with Object Oriented Design and Programming in a high-level language like C#, .NET, Java, SQL, HTML, and CSS
  • In depth experience with relational databases such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, etc
  • In depth experience in delivering software solutions to Production environment and writing quality, production ready code
  • In depth experience working on full stack development across all tiers of an application
  • In depth experience in exposure to DevOps/DevSecOps and CI/CD
  • In depth experience in data science or analytics

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • In depth experience in database management, programming, statistical modeling and/or machine learning (SQL, R, Python, JMP, Tableau, etc.)
  • In depth experience in performing statistical analysis
  • In depth experience working with analytics technology stacks; Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Teradata, etc.
  • Experience in commercial aviation business or engineering
  • Exposure to Cloud computing or microservices
  • Thorough knowledge of SDLC – the overall software development process & methodology, tools, and techniques used to produce quality and secure software
  • Experience with web development, API consumption and creation, REST, SOAP, JSON, YAML, etc.
  • Experience with Unit Testing and Integration testing or TDD (test driven development).
  • Experience with Software Design patterns and performance tuning.
  • Experience developing on both Windows platforms and Linux/Unix platforms.
  • Experience with complex software design of user applications and back-end services.
  • DevOps experience (Azure, Git).
