Service Assistant IV – Materials Department F/T 11pm – 7:30am

Primary Function: ChristianaCare is looking for a full-time Service Assistant IV to deliver supplies, dietary tube feedings, patient care equipment, and code blue carts from Material Management’s storeroom, and Equipment Storage Room to patient care areas upon request, in a manner that supports outstanding excellence and quality patient care. Handles the ordering and removal of specialty beds for patients at Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals. Duties and Responsibilities: Delivers supplies and patient care equipment to areas per stat beeper request from storeroom Orders specialty beds from outside vendors, via phone call, for Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals Acquires confirmation of delivery and follows up to ensure bed was received on the nursing unit within the specified time frame. Cleans, Restocks, and Delivers Code Blue Carts per Code Blue Specifications, in a timely manner. Cleans patient care equipment, per isolation and department standards. Delivers stat and non-stat supplies from Christiana Hospital’s storeroom to areas per faxed requisition or phone call every hour. Retrieves broken equipment from all nursing units Trouble shoots all broken patient care equipment, per Clinical Engineering Standards Fills supply orders via pick ticket and with accurate documentation Restocks warehouse with supplies accurately in appropriate bin locations Handles supplies and equipment to ensure sterility and infection control Maintains a neat and orderly equipment storage room.

Demonstrates compliance with Christiana Care and departmental policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, infection control, attendance and dress code. Hours: 11:00pm – 7:30am includes working every other weekend and holiday Education and Experience Requirements: High School Diploma Two (2) years of hospital experience or commiserate experience in material handling, equipment or tram operation, one (1) of which must have involved in working with patient care supplies and equipment. Twelve months’ experience working with patient care supplies and equipment is preferred or similar customer- oriented field. An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted. Working Conditions: Noise, dust and dirt environment. Possible precaution needed to prevent electric shock from tram and corrosive battery acids. Other hazardous gases and chemicals. Physical Demands: Frequent walking. lifting and placing of stock on shelves or in their designated locations within the warehouse. Frequent lifting of filled supply orders and delivery to requisitioned areas.

Frequent pushing of carts from storeroom to patient care areas. Must be able to push supply carts on wheels, weighing up to 500 lbs. into nursing units.
