Durham, North Carolina, PRMO Established in 2001, Patient Revenue Management Organization (PRMO) is a fully integrated, centralized revenue cycle organization supporting all of Duke Health, including Duke University Hospital, Duke Regional Hospital, Duke Raleigh Hospital, the Private Diagnostic Clinic, and Duke Primary Care. General Description of the Job Class: I ndependently performs specialized or advanced healthinformation activiti esnecessary to organize, maintain, and use electronicpatient health reco rds.   Activitiesrequired include research, analysis and comp ilation of findings into summarizedreports that will be shared within an dexternal to the Health InformationManagement Department.   Positions at thislevel have high customer service, strong analytic andp roblem solving skills,require interpretation and explanation of policy a ndexternal requirementsrelated to, privacy, release of information, posi tive patient identity, andother department and organization-wide functio ns. Specific job responsibilitiesare based on the service unit within He alth Information Management assigned.     Expert computer skills to navigate and query multiple electronic record systems . Patien tIdentityManagement:   regular interactionsrequired with pat ients, attorneys, insurance companies, providers of healthcareand govern mental agencies.

  Detailed workingknowledge of and abilityt oapply State and Federal laws regarding positivepatient identification,i dentity theft, vital records regulations, JointCommission requirements,a nd CMS guidelines and rules. Duties and Job Responsibilities: T rack, monitor and validate patient overlays that occurduring patientregi stration and scheduling activities. Analyze and trend datafor feedbackto appropriate department.   Notifies compliance andaffected departments o f incorrect documentation location.   25% Rese arches through comparison of demographic andclinical information andreso lves patient identification problems referred byexternal departmentsor p atients for fraudulent identity use, such as identitytheft.   15% Performs concurrent and retrospective c ontactmoves.   Analyzes thecontent of healthrecorddocument, coordinates with responsible providers, clinicians, andancillary departm ent participating in the patient’s care for record correctionrequirement s to resolution through Chart Correction Workspace.   15% Leadsclinical, ancillary and financial staff to assist in resolving overlayissuesofm ultiple patient information in one medical record to resolve overlay wit hin 24 hours of discovery of overlay.   15% Participates in 24-hour on- call rotation.   15%   Maintains enterprise master patient i ndexintegrity medical record number merges, un-merges and medicalrecord numberassignments electronically.
