It distributes electricity, bought from bulk generators, to Joburg, keeping the city’s residents warm and its lights burning. City Power Johannesburg (Pty) Limited is a separate company, with the City of Johannesburg as its sole shareholder.
Appointment Requirements:

National Diploma (NQF 6) in Supply Chain Management or Finance
3 years’ relevant experience

Primary Function:

The Specialist Demand holds a critical responsibility for managing demand-related functions within the Supply
Chain Management (SCM) department. They collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop accurate demand forecasts, align supply chain strategies, and implement effective demand management processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide support in coordinating the compilation and approval of Annual Procurement plan. Link procurement plan with the City Power business plan and the strategic plan. 
Link procurement plan with the IDP of the City of Johannesburg. 
Advise commodity managers on their BEE expenditure. Analyse the data on historic procurement spend. 
Understand the market dynamics in terms of new technologies when dealing with specifications. 
Provide support in monitoring the implementation of the annual procurement plan. Conduct needs assessment by collecting and analyzing relevant data, categorizing commodities and confirming availability of funds. 
Collaborate with City Power’s BEE department to meet City Power’s BEE expenditure targets on designated groups are achieved.
Consolidate related needs across the business to ensure economies of scale when procuring goods and services.
Advise on preference points system and appropriate goals per commodity in terms of procurement policy objectives.
Provide support in coordinating and advising on the process of drafting specifications/terms or reference and special conditions of contract.
Conduct market assessment and industry analysis per commodity. 
Conduct market research and advice the business on sourcing strategies per commodity
