Schedule: Full Time The role you’ll contribute: The Principal Network Architect ⯠series contains the highest technical role s within the Network Engineering organization. The Senior Principal Network Architect is the pinnacle of this series , and of network oriented technical roles at Ad ventHealth. Viewed as a technical leader, this position requires transcend ing beyond engineering and operations . M ust be able to understand complex business problems, think cr i tically , and develop technical solutions that align with business and technical object ives , goals, and constraints. Requires the ability to collaborate with technical leaders from diverse technical disciplines and develop cohesive, complex solutions.
Must possess the ability to lead, collaborate with, and mentor less experienced engineers. Must possess the ability to operate within an enterprise scale environment with matrixed reporting structures. This role is distinguished from Senior Network Engineers in that it requires much deeper technical experience, much wider collaboration, deep understanding of how areas of focus impact and drive the business, and an ability to lead and manage the largest, most complex projects. Often this means assuming a leadership role with direction of work for other engineers being required. Operates as a thought leader and consultant in applicable areas of technical expertise. · Change Management – Ensures changes are properly documented, communicated, and executed in accordance with team and company change management policies and procedures. · Documentation – Document s administrative items, projects, solutions, and support issues to provide reference to team members, other teams, and leadership. · Emerging Technology Review – Stays up to date on current and emerging technologies and services. Evaluates technologies and services against business goals and priorities.
Develops business cases, architectures, and project plans for perspective technologies and services. · Mentorship – Desires and seeks opportunities to mentor and guide less experienced engineers. Serves as senior most technical reference for engineering and analyst teams. Fosters an environment of knowledge sharing and skills development. · Personal Development –Seeks development of technical and non-technical skillsets. Seeks ways to enhance and move the team and/or business forward. · Project Management – Ensures projects are adequately planned, documented, tracked, and executed. Supports and complies with team and organization project tracking methodologies. · Process Development & Improvement – Seeks and identifies areas for development or improvement of technical and non-technical processes. · Policy and Standards – Ensures compliance with team and company policies and standards.
· Strategy Development – Partners with technical and non-technical business stakeholders to develop and understand business goals and initiatives. Translates this understanding into technical and non-technical strategies and roadmaps. · Technical Research and Evaluation – Oversees technical research and evaluation of network related infrastructure technologies and services. Crafts and presents technical business cases to senior and executive leadership. Technical Responsibilities & Expertise · Cloud Infrastructure – Provides architect level technical expertise, direction, and leadership in planning, building, and operating cloud infrastructure. Specifically in automation, network, and security domains in major cloud services such as AWS, GCP, and Azure. · Network Automation and Management – Provides architect level technical expertise, direction, and leadership in planning, building, and operating network visibility, management, and automation platforms. o Example protocols, services, and platforms: § Packet Capture , Visibility, and Analysis – APCON, LiveAction , Wireshark, Riverbed, Probes § Automation – Python, Ansible, Terraform · Network Infrastructure – Provides architect level technical expertise, direction, and leadership in planning, building, and operating LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, Network Security, and wireless networks. o Example protocols, services, and platforms: § Dynamic Routing Protocols – BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS § Data Center Fabric / Switching – Cisco ACI, Fabric Path, NX-OS, IOS § Software Defined Wan – Silver Peak § Wireless – Cisco, Meraki, Juniper Mist · Network Security – Provide s architect level technical expertise, direction, and leadership in planning, building, and network security infrastructure. Specifically in network access control, firewalls, and proxies.
o Example protocols, services, and platforms: § Relevant Firewall Platforms – ASA, Firepower, Palo Alto § Network Access & Identity – Cisco ISE § VPN – Cisco, Palo Alto, Meraki § Proxy & Web Filtering – Cisco, Palo Alto, Broadcom · Operational Support – Provides break glass / emergency operational support during large, all hands-on deck, major incidents. Serves as top escalation point when other teams are unable to resolve major, business impacting incidents. Qualifications The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed : KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED : · Proven skills collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders, at all organizational levels. · Proven skills translating business problems into technical solutions. · Proven skills leveraging and collaborating with vendor resources to design, scope, and execute enterprise scale projects. · Proven skills in ideation, design, planning, and execution of complex, enterprise scale, technical projects. · Proven skills in creating and presenting technical concepts and materials to technical and non-technical stakeholders. · Proven skills providing emergency, break-glass operational support. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED: · Experience performing presentations to Senior Leadership or larger audiences. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED : · B.
A or B. S. in a degree such as Computer Science, Information Systems or Information Technology or 1 5 years related experience. · Minimum of 1 2 years supporting enterprise class network environments. · Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior engineering level role. · Minimum of 5 years relevant network architecture and design experience. · At least 3 years of technical writing and speaking experience. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: · Experience working in a healthcare environment. LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED : · Strong preference towards relevant expert and professional certifications (see below). · May be offset by relevant experience.
