Job Description
Department Description
The Department of Computer Science (CS) is accountable for two undergraduate majors: Computer Science Engineering (CSE) and Computer Science (CS). The majors have separate implementation and review criteria. The CSE major is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Within ABET, we are reviewed by both the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) and the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC). Both of which require a mandatory advising program. The CS major is officially impacted and also requires mandatory advising of all students. The CS major undergoes an Undergraduate Instruction and Program Review (UIPR) in order to maintain the campus’ WASC accreditation. We have two minors; Computer Science and Computational Biology. Computer Science maintains a high level of service load courses taken by other majors being either required or recommended. The total number of students in both majors is approximately 1600 students, not including the minors, and serves a total of over 10,000 students in our classes in a given academic year. CS also provides informal tracks in which students can specialize in different areas within Computer Science.
