Rockaway/NJ/USA, Overview Atlantic Heath System is seeking a per-diem Certified Sterile Processing Technician for the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Rockaway, NJ to work 12:00pm – 6:00pm. Responsibilities Essential Functions/Responsibilities: The Sterile Processing Technician is trained and certified to clean, decontaminate, disinfect, assemble, and sterilize patient care equipment, supplies, reusable medical devices, and instruments according to prescribed procedures, regulations, instructions for use and techniques. Maintaining Patient Care Equipment: Knowledge of all sterile processing equipment, including items used on in-patient units. Compliance with AAMI, OSHA, TJC, AORN, Manufacturer Instructions for Use, departmental guidelines and OMC/AHS policies and procedures for properly cleaning, inspecting, and storing patient care equipment. Decontamination/ Instrument Cleaning: Compliance with AAMI, OSHA, TJC AORN, Manufacturer Instructions for Use, departmental guidelines and OMC/AHS policies and procedures for proper pre-cleaning and cleaning instruments Prep and Pack: Compliance with AAMI, OSHA, AORN, Manufacturer Instructions for Use, departmental guidelines and OMC/AHS policies and procedures for prepping and packing instruments, trays and other items that are processed in the unit utilizing count sheets. Sterilization: Compliance with AAMI, OSHA, TJC, AORN, Manufacturer Instructions for Use, departmental guidelines and OMC/ AHS policies and procedures for sterilization. Storage Clean/Sterile Distribution: Adheres to AAMI, OSHA, TJC,AORN, manufacturer instructions for Use, departmental guidelines and OMC/AHS procedures for sterile storage. Dispatch: Completely and accurately sets up case carts according to the preference card, seeking clarification as needed. Technical: Must be competent in computer skills related to instrument tracking (Microsystem SPM) IFU review (One Source) and loaner delivery and tracking (Torq) Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and word. Performance Improvement: Performs special projects as assigned by SPD supervisor and/or Nurse Manager.
Qualifications Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED required Minimum Experience: 2 years experience in an ambulatory surgical SPD setting or a hospital SPD setting Experience with endoscopy equipment preferred Licenses/Certifications: Certification from an accredited board for sterile processing and distribution required About Us Atlantic Health System aims to deliver the highest quality, safety and care combined with the best experience for our patients and their families.
