Job Purpose
The focus of this position is to provide assistance to the Director and other staff in Intercultural Affairs and Student Engagement to provide support for students in the Leona Lusk Officer Black Cultural Center. Also a secondary purpose would be to provide advice to students and faculty or staff on non-academic issues that affect underrepresented students and to assist in developing training opportunities for the campus.

Essential Functions
- Manage the Leona Lusk Officer Black Cultural Center and support Intercultural Affairs programs. Supervise student activities in the Black Cultural Center during work hours. Perform some support and may serve on committees such as the Commission on the Status of Blacks (CSB), Intercultural Affairs Advisory Committee, etc. Scheduling, supervision and time sheet preparation for work study students, University Academic Scholarship students, and mentors.
- Address student concerns and offer referrals to other offices where necessary.
- Prepare contracts for individuals brought to campus by Intercultural Affairs for professional and academic development as well as entertainment purposes. Assist with program or event planning including setting menus for events, reserving spaces by submitting requests for “Use of Facilities” in coordination with Student Services and Facility Services through the Event Reservations System, and send communications regarding events.
- Work with the Director of Student Engagement & Intercultural Affairs to develop and implement DEI training modules for student organizations and provide support for student organizations. Work with the Coordinator of Student Activities to plan events with an Intercultural focus.
- Provide information to prospective students and their parents, other campus visitors, current students and faculty and staff introducing them to the amenities of Intercultural Affairs and the Black Cultural Center. Answer questions regarding Tech and Cookeville, TN, or provide referral information where needed. Perform other duties as assigned, or as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with two years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Some experience working in a cultural center in higher education, student programming, mentoring programs, or student services.
Work Hours
8:00 am – 4:30 pm, some nights and weekends may be necessary.
Salary
Commensurate with education and experience; Administrative Pay Grade 42.
