The
Studio Art Assistant/Model understands that all studio art classes and model
session activities are based on professional standards of practice. The Studio
Art Assistant/Model understands that studio art class or session members
predominantly consist of Art & Design majors or USM students currently
enrolled in Art & Design studio course(s). Proctored model sessions
are for Art & Design art students to support drawing and painting practice
outside of regularly scheduled class-time.
Position
is based on semester course offerings.

Job Summary
This position involves figure posing in a studio
art (drawing and painting) context. The individual hired for this position
will work with the professor of record or proctor of the given studio art
course to achieve the aims of instruction. This position also
involves assisting the professor in the management of studio
props/costumes and other basic studio art class functions in accordance
with instructional needs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Pose for
    extended period and move naturally.
  2. Ability
    to takes poses that support the aims of specific drawing and painting
    exercises.
  3. Work with
    instructor of record in accordance with instructional needs.
  4. Punctuality and
    dependability.
  5. Responsive to faculty and staff regarding scheduling.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to hold a pose for extended periods. Ability to move naturally. Ability to takes poses that support the aims of specific drawing and painting
exercises. Mature demeanor, punctuality and dependability. Availability to work when the given studio art courses are offered.

Preferred Qualifications
Prior modeling experience in a studio art
context. Basic familiarity with drawing & painting
studio art practices and instructional method.
