This is a full-time professional position within the Prentice Gautt Academic Center, a comprehensive support services unit for
intercollegiate student-athletes. The individual will be responsible for managing high dosage tutoring and the tutorial program. To include
personalized support for student-athletes, using diagnostic data to create individualized academic learning goals to establish a baseline to
monitor growth, specifically in reading and math intervention. The Support Services Coordinator is also responsible for hiring, training,
staff development and certification of tutoring staff. This individual will oversee student employees and the Athletics Writing Center
staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Implement educational programming for incoming student-athletes in GRIT
    (high dosage tutoring).
  • Utilize diagnostic assessment to pinpoint areas of strength and areas where students need support
  • Assess students’ educational needs and assist in designing individualized interventions
  • Conduct one-on-one and small group
    sessions for personalized and targeted support to align with each student-athletes individualized plan
  • Apply ongoing assessments to
    monitor progress, allowing real-time differentiation to maximize growth and achievement
  • Clarify and review concepts with
    student-athletes to explain processes and key concepts
  • Provide summative information to assess the future direction of the
    program
  • Hire, train, manage and evaluate the entire tutorial staff, including evening tutorial supervisory staff
  • Coordinate the timely scheduling of all mandatory and requested appointments to support student-athlete academic success
  • Monitor and track student and tutorial staff attendance, review tutor feedback reports, and provide prompt and thorough documentation to
    supervisor and compliance office
  • Observe and evaluate individual tutorial sessions; provide feedback to tutorial staff
  • Coordinate ongoing staff development programming that includes an emphasis on best educational practices
  • Prepare and approve
    biweekly payroll of entire tutorial staff
  • Prepare summary reports and updates for pertinent academic support staff, including
    athletics academic advisors and the Director of Student-Athlete Support Services
  • Act as a resource and provide training for staff
    in the area of best tutoring practices, and facilitate math placement exam preparation training for math tutoring staff
  • Maintain a
    thorough working knowledge of NCAA, Big 12, and University rules, regulations, and policies; understand that rules compliance is a critical
    element of this position
  • Administer the procedures for the coordination and delivery of academic services including mentoring,
    tutoring, and grade report tracking systems
  • Regularly communicate the progress, outcomes, and direction of work to the Director;
    make recommendations concerning improvement of programs and services
  • Support department and campus-wide student success efforts
    through participation in a variety of department activities and committee work
  • Handle other duties as assigned by the Senior
    Associate Athletics Director or the Director of Academic Support Services

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree, AND:

  • 12 months in student
    programming, student services, or closely related experience.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months
related experience in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree for a total of 60 months experience.

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writings.
  • Composition and proofreading skills.
  • Computer skills, including
    proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases.
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.
  • Highly
    organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate well and build rapport with students,
    faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations.
  • Proficiency and/or
    familiarity with Banner and Teamworks software.

Certifications:

  • None

Department Preferences:

  • Master’s degree, or in process of
    completing a graduate degree program.
  • Professional experience in K-12 or higher education for a diverse student population.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience with full-time or student staff in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of FERPA and
    ethical principles in working with students.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA and Big 12 Conference rules and regulations relating to
    academic support for student-athletes.
