Technical
Director
Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position:
Technical Director in the Theatre Department.
Duties include, but are not limited
to:
- Daily supervision of the space and its use by others, including: ensuring proper maintenance of equipment, maintaining
necessary supplies, and facilitating loan requests from local schools and theatres for set pieces, props, or production items once loan
agreement is completed. - Coordinate and manage load-ins and strikes for all department productions and events.
- Participate in production meetings and communications regarding technical needs.
- Manage production build schedules
and ensures completion as required. - Supervise and contribute to set construction.
- Maintain budget for each
production. - Analyze scenic design drafts and formulate building strategy for each production.
- Supervise
student workforce, including: implementing student schedules, overseeing mandatory trainings, and ensuring completion of weekly
timecard. - Teach technical theatre coursework, including: prepare course materials (syllabus), instruct project work, and
coordinate grading for artistic work and class performance.
Requirements: A bachelor’s
degree and three (3) years of professional experience in technical theatre is required. A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a
26′ truck are also required. A master’s degree in Technical Theatre Production and experience in academia is preferred. Experience as a
technical director, carpenter, and/or welder is also preferred. Successful candidates should be well-versed with AutoCAD, Vectorworks,
scenery automation and scenic studio supervision.

Production Manager III (CG25/61122874/FTE-S00859P),
full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 06. Salary
range: $43,030.00 (minimum) – $61,323.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours vary. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the
university.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. Three (3) years of professional experience in
technical theatre.
Preferred Qualifications
MFA in Technical Theatre Production. Experience in academia
is a plus. Experience as a technical director, carpenter, and welder and be well-versed with AutoCAD, Vectorworks, scenery automation and
scenic studio supervision is preferred.
Licensure and/or Certification
A valid driver’s license and the
ability to drive a 26′ truck are required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of and experience with
other areas of theatrical design and production (lighting, sound, projections, etc.) An understanding of academic theatre and a strong
ability to collaborate is essential.
