Job Summary
Coordinates the use of theatrical production systems and equipment for MCC’s Performing Arts Facilities; specific emphasis on theatrical lighting. Serves as the Master Electrician for assigned academic programs; executes hang, focus, light board programming, etc. Assists Audio Engineer with live sound reinforcement setup needs. Provides support to academic program needs. Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, integrity, and diversity in the performance of job duties.
Essential Functions
50% – Serves as the Master Electrician for assigned academic programs; coordinates and executes lighting hang, focus, programming and specialty lighting needs; responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of lighting equipment inventory and systems maintenance in assigned areas
25% – Assists with live audio support to assigned academic programs; assists with live sound setups including but not limited to speaker placement, microphone setups, cable management, etc; assists with the maintenance and upkeep of audio equipment in assigned areas
15% – Provides work direction to part time staff in the operation of the theatrical systems and equipment; emphasis in theatrical lighting
5% – Assists the Director of Performing Arts Facilities in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all users of MCC’s performing arts facilities; enforces applicable health, safety policies and regulations as established by the Director of Performing Arts Facilities
5% – Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related program area and one full time equivalent year of program coordination experience
OR
Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related program area and three full time equivalent years of program coordination experience
OR
High School Diploma/GED and five full time equivalent years of program coordination experience
Desired Qualifications
A. Bachelor’s degree in Theatrical Production or related degree
B. Experience with stage lighting techniques and related production documentation
C. Experience with live sound reinforcement and related production documentation
D. Experience with multimedia projections in an entertainment environment
E. Experience troubleshooting and maintain theatrical lighting and/or audio equipment malfunctions
F. Experience working in an educational environment
Special Working Conditions
Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver’s License is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving:

Some evening and weekend hours will be required.
Will be required to lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
This position is exposed to high and low light and sound levels.
This position will be required to work at height in catwalks and similar areas above a stage space
