The Trackless Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for the Refurbishment/Assembling/Commissioning of Equipment and maintain Reliability on the Equipment until hander over to the Relevant Section for production. The role requires safe task execution in respect of Changing of Major Components, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventative maintenance, and repairing faults. Team members are expected to demonstrate a focus on safety, achievement, and team engagement in all aspects of their work

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12/N3 qualification or equivalent
Recognized Diesel Mechanic/Millwright/Fitter Trade Certificate
Have 5 years’ experience in a mechanized mining environment as a Diesel Mechanic/Millwright/Fitter
Proven working knowledge of Trackless Machines. Sandvik/Epiroc/Aard/Caterpillar
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

Key Competencies:

Good communication and interpersonal skills
Be able to interpret hydraulic drawings and use with fault-finding
Extensive experience on Trackless Equipment/Component
Proven track record of production achievements
Prepared to work overtime/irregular hours and perform standby duties as required
Computer literacy with basic MS Office proficiency

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure health and safety of self and team members by applying relevant standards and procedure
Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, manufacturing, and Company standards
Responsible for the maintenance of applicable standards and conditions within assigned areas of responsibility
Responsible for the safe and proper installation and repairs of equipment aligned to scheduled planned refurbishments and maintenance, breakdown management and ad hoc assignments
Accountable for the complete delivery of daily task assignments and, reporting of outstanding or work to be scheduled in accordance with established preventative and breakdown maintenance standards
Carry out RCA to eliminate repeat failures and implement remedial actions
Collaborate with operational teams to ensure preparation and release of units for planned breakdown and ad hoc maintenance tasks
Collaborate with team and planned maintenance teams to ensure optimal preparation, spares, etc. ahead of tasks being assigned and executed
Engage in further training and related activities to ensure continuous refinement of own skills and competencies
