off May 15 – August 15 approximately)

Salary Minimum: 22.94

Salary Maximum: 33.30

Salary Type: Hourly

Job
Description

This position will be responsible for performing a range of services key to the success of students and the
efficient and effective operation of the TRIO Student Support Services Program. The primary function of the position will be to coordinate
and deliver programs and services related to retention and graduation to ensure the department meets established retention and graduation
objectives. Extensive student interaction and advising is required. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, responsible, and
self-motivated with demonstrated ability to multi-task and to perform tasks independently.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND
RESULTS

1. Works closely with the director of Student Support Services in developing, arranging for provision
of, and evaluating programs, services, and activities to program participants. Assists in recruiting, interviewing, evaluating and selecting
SSS program participants. Retention support services for program participants include:

  • Proactive Advising
    • Deliver
      advising and retention services to SSS participants which includes monitoring academic and graduation progress, needs assessment, and
      implementation of proactive intervention strategies.
    • Refer students to other service providers on campus such as Financial Aid,
      Business Office, Registration, admissions, Counseling, Career Services, Disability Services, Academic Support Center, etc. Participate in
      activities as outlined in the grant objectives.
    • Prepare, coordinate, and assist academic workshops and presentation for SSS staff
      and participants.

2. Academic Support Services

  • Designs individualized Student Success Plans, tracks
    student progress, and advises students of available college and community resources.
  • Plans, develops, and presents workshops,
    seminars and educational and cultural events for program participants and/or campus community.

3. Assists in updating participant files on a regular basis and maintain student records as required by federal
regulations.

4. Assists Director in data collection required for federal and MnSCU reports.

5. Perform other
duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business
partner.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter
job)

  • Bachelors in Human Services, Social Work, Sociology, Education or closely related field
  • At least one-year
    experience teaching or working in student affairs in higher ed
  • Experience serving multi-cultural populations
  • Experience in
    academic advising college students
  • Excellent one-on-one communication skills

Preferred
Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications (desired but not expected to have to enter
job)

  • Masters in Human Services, Social Work, Sociology, Education or closely related field
  • At least one-year
    experience academic advising or counseling college students
  • TRIO experience or individual with a background similar to our TRIO
    population (first generation, low income, and students with disabilities)
