Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC) announces an excellent opportunity to join its Executive Team as its Vice-President/Chief
Financial Officer (CFO). The Vice-President/CFO serves as a strategic business advisor to the President and Executive Team and manages and
leads the financial and operational areas of the college.

FVCC is located in beautiful Northwest Montana, just 30 miles from Glacier
National Park and 60 miles from the U.S.-Canada border. With our main campus located in Kalispell and a second campus located in Libby, FVCC
serves nearly 100,000 residents over a two-county region covering more than 5.6 million acres, an area larger than the state of
Massachusetts.

FVCC provides high-quality academic programs taught by world-class faculty who have studied, taught, conducted
research and volunteered across the globe. Our students go on to lead successful lives whether they transfer to four-year colleges and

FVCC is a leader among
community colleges in its approach to meeting student and community needs. FVCC boasts a strong STEM program and hosts a weekly presentation
and discussion of STEM research projects taking place in and affecting the Flathead Valley. In 2015, FVCC introduced Montana’s first
brewing science and brewery operations program to prepare individuals for entry-level careers in the rapidly growing craft beer industry. As
one of only a handful of these programs in the nation, FVCC’s program was developed with input from many local craft brewing business
to meet the workforce needs at the local and national levels. On-campus housing for students opened for occupancy fall of 2017. The housing
units include single and double bedrooms for up to 124 students.

Besides working at a top-notch educational institution, FVCC staff
and faculty live in one of the most magnificent places on Earth with endless opportunities for outdoor recreation. FVCC’s main campus
is located 30 minutes from the entrance to Glacier National Park, offering some of the most scenic hiking and camping in the world. The
Flathead Valley is nestled between two of Montana’s powder wonderlands, Whitefish Mountain Resort and Blacktail Mountain Ski Area,
which combined offer more than 4,000 acres of terrain to explore. And just 12 miles down the road from the main campus is Flathead Lake, the
largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi River and a haven for sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and fishing.

SUMMARY
Flathead Valley Community College is an outstanding public community college located on a beautiful

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Manages and leads financial and operational areas of the college.
  • Serves as a strategic business advisor to the President
    and senior leadership team.
  • Directs supervision and oversight of the Business Office, Purchasing, Facilities and Grounds, Auxiliary
    Services areas, Mailroom and other related areas.
  • Develops and maintains the college budget and financial forecasts; reviews campus
    expenditures and works closely with departments of the college in budgeting and finance; prepares and presents financial budgeting
    reports.
  • Allocates fiscal resources and manages the elements of fiscal accountability; oversees the submission of reports to local,
    state and federal agencies.
  • Prepares and maintains long-term financial forecasts for all of the college’s funds. Monitors
    financial and operational developments to ensure that forecasts are current and accurate; provides insight and recommendations on the
    short-term and long-term plans of the College. 
  • Designs, prepares, analyzes and presents college financial reports to the
    President, Board of Trustees, Foundation Board and other appropriate individuals and groups.
  • Oversees the College external audits
    and reports to administration, implements corrections and improvements. 
  • Collaboratively manages the infrastructure of the
    college and to strategically allocate and prioritize resources.
  • Oversees renovation and maintenance of facilities necessary to
    accomplish the college’s mission.
  • Monitors finance internal control policies and procedures and recommends changes to ensure
    organizational mission.
  • Serves as a leader who seeks and values collaboration and input from others, takes decisive action when
    needed, and is transparent about the rationale for important decisions.
  • Coordinates periodic review, accreditation, assessments,
    and other strategic planning initiatives.
  • Assumes leadership in promoting good public relations with college faculty, staff,
    students, and external constituents; represents the college to external constituencies including school districts, other post-secondary
    institutions, Board of Regents, businesses, industry and community; leads and serves on various committees.
  • Attends related
    trainings, workshops, and professional development.
  • Actively participates in the development of a climate that promotes and
    supports innovation and efforts to continuously improve services to students, faculty, and the College.
  • Creates and maintains a
    collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships.
  • Maintains professional
    ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
  • Advances the mission of FVCC by serving on
    or convening committees and contributing in the community in college-related activities.
  • Reports to the President and is a member
    of the President’s Executive Team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a field appropriate to the responsibilities
    of the position and a minimum of five years of senior administration experience, including significant proven experience in supervision in
    administrative, fiscal, and facilities; OR,
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a field appropriate to the
    responsibilities of position and a minimum of ten years of senior administration experience, including significant proven experience in
    supervision in administrative, fiscal, and facilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Related work experience in
    a community college, higher education or public administration.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated ability in collaborating with key stakeholders in senior higher education administration, the college community, and
    public.
  • Skill in utilizing and implementing information and/or education technology systems and providing service that instills a
    data-informed approach to decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate in all financial and operational areas.
  • Excellent skill in all forms of communication.
  • Excellent knowledge and skill in fund accounting.
  • Expertise with
    budgetary process including the development and administration of departmental and programmatic budgets and grant funded initiatives.
  • Skill in hiring, evaluation, and managing employees.
  • Demonstrated skill in effectively analyzing data, research and assessments
    for outcome oriented results.
  • Skill and ability to operate a variety of computer and software applications.
  • Ability to
    work non-traditional schedules for events, including evenings, weekends, holidays, etc.
  • Ability to work within policies and
    procedures of FVCC.
  • Ability and willingness to serve as an ambassador for the College by interacting appropriately with the college
    community and community.
  • Ability to maintain effective and positive professional relationships.
  • Ability to follow and
    issue directions.
  • Demonstrated communication, technology, presentation, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability
    to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to intermittently work non-traditional

  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check .

  • This is a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the
    Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force
    occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
