Vice President, Student Life & Engagement

Rhode
Island School of Design (RISD) seeks nominations and applications for the position of Vice President, Student Life & Engagement (VPSLE).
Reporting to the Provost, the VPSLE is the senior officer charged with leading a vibrant student life program and providing dynamic and
purposeful leadership motivated by a deep commitment to equity, inclusion and student wellbeing. With the appointment of the Vice President,
RISD will broaden and deepen its commitment to programs and services that both anticipate and respond to the needs of a global, diverse,
talented and ambitious student body. Working in close partnership with the president, provost and senior staff, the vice president will
provide leadership that develops and advances the strategic vision of RISD as one of the world’s leading institutions of art and design. The
successful candidate will be an experienced leader who takes pride in the professional delivery of student services, has excellent
management skills, and demonstrates a commitment to building partnerships with students, faculty and staff colleagues across RISD.

The Vice President, Student Life & Engagement (VPSLE) will inspire RISD students, staff and faculty to cultivate a deep sense
of community and a shared vision for the student experience. The VPSLE will formulate and articulate a strategic plan for the division
within the context of The RISD Strategic Plan. Candidates will understand how issues of diversity, equity and inclusion impact students and
how these issues manifest in building community, belonging, and student health and well-being.

The successful candidate will
demonstrate a strong track record of building sustainable partnerships among students, staff and faculty; a creative and thoughtful approach
to the work of student affairs in RISD’s particular context; and the stature and experience in the field to support a talented staff and
build on a strong and successful program.
