National Network of Public Health Institutes seeks a dynamic, distinguished executive to serve as its next Vice President, Technology Strategy and Innovation (VP). This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of public health and technology in the U. S. with a focus on the acceleration of public health data exchanges. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Programs, Chris Kinabrew, the VP will be a key leader in what is one of the most significant transformations of public health data in the modern era. NNPHI is one of several national public health organizations that will fund Implementation Centers to accelerate public health data exchange through TEFCA among public health jurisdictions, healthcare, and other data providers (e. g. , laboratories), thereby reducing burden, increasing timeliness of data exchange, and improving public health threat detection and prevention. In particular, the VP will work with stakeholders across the federal government (primarily CDC and ONC), national public health practice organizations (e. g.
, ASTHO, PHAB), public health institutes, academic organizations, and state, territorial, local and tribal public health agencies to launch and support the Implementation Centers. The VP must be able to act as a trusted advisor to experts across technology, public health and informatics to drive consensus on best practice, technology needs and innovation. The VP will provide leadership to ensure alignment across activities including technical assistance and training, TEFCA participation, identifying and implementing public health use cases, and monitoring and evaluation (financial and programmatic). They will be expected to provide oversight to the Implementation Center(s) as they in turn seek to align the IT strategies of STLT agencies with the implementation of current products or services that are available on the market or opportunities to help build those systems as needed. They will need to ensure a high level of transparency across stakeholder groups and will ultimately be accountable for keeping the funding agency informed and engaged. The VP will be a dynamic thought leader with high emotional intelligence and a practical approach to developing and delivering on a vision for this highly innovative public health transformation. In order to be successful, they must also have a strong understanding of the public health and healthcare environment and the unique needs of an evolving industry. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead cultural and technical change effectively are essential. The incoming VP must possess a highly inquisitive, creative mind and the ability to persuasively champion ideas along with being able to thrive in a complex health system. The VP may be remote with travel to organization partners and corporate offices as needed.
