Description of Position:
Carthage College seeks a Visual and Performing Arts Events Manager. This full-time,
benefits-eligible position provides support for all visual and performing arts events at Carthage in conjunction with the departments of
Art, Music, and Theatre/Dance. The Events Manager works collaboratively with other areas of campus to support events by creating a positive
environment and working relationships related to arts events. This position reports to the Dean of the Arts and Humanities.
The
Visual and Performing Arts Events Manager supervises a team of student events staff and designers, including:
- House Management
Team - Events (Set-up and Strike) Staff Team
- Social Media and Marketing Team
- Design and Writing Team
The Visual and Performing Arts Manager has the following responsibilities:
- Along with the dean and faculty,
develop and coordinate the calendar of events for music, theatre/dance, music theatre, and the gallery of art. - Work collaboratively
with faculty and student teams to meet departmental needs for set-up, strike, and other event management logistics. Oversee post-event
debriefs with a focus on continuous improvement. - Manage marketing, print materials, and social media for all arts events with a
team of student workers. Hire, train, and supervise a team of diverse student employees. Help create materials that foster inclusive
approaches for diverse audiences and engagement. - Support recruitment and scholarship events in the Visual and Performing Arts. Work
with department faculty and the administration for recruitment events, and coordinate with other offices to maximize the impact of arts
events. - Manage other special projects across the division as assigned.
The ideal candidate has the following
qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in an arts area or arts administration
2. Experience with project management
3. Commitment to collaboration
4. Ability to multi-task and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
5. Excellent written
and verbal communication, organizational skills
6. Strong computer skills including Microsoft word and Excel
Other
helpful skills include:
1. Experience with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite
2. Background in production
or public events for a performing arts organization or venue
