Austin, Texas, Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications: Position Summary: Provide leadership and direction of business system development and process management across multiple departments in Sonic Reference Laboratory. Drive effective management of project selection process including development of ROIs, cost sheets, and other tools for justification of test internalization. Support clinical staff in managing and maintaining visibility of operations-based projects such as process optimizations and development of metric collection systems across the organization. Promote and inspire a continuous improvement culture with heavy emphasis on business process excellence. Oversee and facilitate management of laboratory business systems including data collection and analytics. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including but not limited to Laboratory Directors, Pathologists, Providers-Physicians, Medical Director, Scientific Staff, and Sales/Marketing. Collaborate with Sonic Healthcare USA technical and operations leaders toward successful execution of Sonic Healthcare USA initiatives Primary Responsibilities: Project Management Work with pathologists and scientific staff to ensure appropriate alignment of new test development with business portfolio management Develop and maintain visibility of project progress and timelines Ensure sufficient momentum behind all involved accountable parties in order to meet milestones and deadlines for pre-determined objectives Train and lead staff in the use of project management tools and processes Quality & Regulatory Ensure compliance with CAP and other regulatory agency requirements surrounding laboratory systems and appropriate change control and other business system processes Establish data management and mechanisms for appropriate tracking of quality metrics such as turnaround time and testing volume Collaborate with Operations and Quality to ensure organizational consistency regarding resolution of non-conforming events Client Relation Management Coordinate with Pre Analytical manager and department Technical Directors to maintain systems and processes for evaluation of appropriate test utilization by clients Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement to ordering clients in order to facilitate timely and quality-focused patient results Issue clear and effective communications to SRL clients and Central Office stakeholders Referral and External Processes Establish and maintain connectivity and communication with referral laboratories and external partners Maintain a streamlined approach for reporting of results to state health departments with focused effort on transition to fully electronic methods Business Process Transformation/Operations Champion the analysis of existing workflows, identification of areas for improvement, and effective implementation of changes Work with Operations to facilitate continuous process improvement efforts across all departments Generate internal and client-facing reports and dashboards in collaboration with Operations and Quality to effectively communicate laboratory metrics Financial Management Ensure in-house cost evaluation is completed and tracked for new test implementations Facilitate analysis of Collaborate with financial database team to ensure CPT coding and pricing is defined appropriately Business Systems & Analytics Ensure project-established policies and procedures are followed whenever test systems are not within laboratory levels of performance Evaluate and prioritize requests for LIS development and evenly distribute work amongst the LIS department Maintain the integrity of the laboratory information system through a detailed understanding of the entire testing process from Pre Analytical to transmission of results Ensure all Sonic Healthcare global laboratory information system tasks are tested appropriately and maintain effective communication with the global development team Oversee appropriate publication and change management of the SRL Test Collection Manual and SRL website Create and maintain clear business systems policies and procedures to ensure continuity across the organization Lead and facilitate training on data analytics and management of business systems Education: Bachelors degree required. Masters degree in a related field preferred. PMP (Project Management Professional) certification required. Experience: 5-10 years of project management experience.
5-10 years of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting. To include management of multiple facilities and departments Strong experience in communicating with several stakeholders in separate geographical locations Strong experience in building decision trees for test development Strong experience in working with pathologists/technical directors Strong experience in R&D/validation/verification work Skills: The ability to communicate effectively both orally and written. The ability to coordinate multiple resources effectively. The skill set of exuding leadership at all levels.
